TURKEY'S EYE FILLING MEGA PROJECTS
Turkey is a fast growing country, in recent year infrastructure, transport, energy and defence fields, is rapidly implementing mega projects. The Turkish government has a very strategic plan. Turkey recently has implemented and is approaching step by step to become one of the best performing economies, as defined in the 2023 vision plan.
There are many projects that have been completed such as, Osmangazi Bridge, Yavuz Sultan Bridge ve Avrasya Tunnel, as well as new projects that are ongoing and will start soon.
1. ISTANBUL NEW AIRPORT / THIRD AIRPORT
When completed, it will have a capacity of 200 million passengers. Also it will be the first international airport in the world to be built from scratch, as well as being one of several airports that can be refuelled by ship. Thanks to its strategic geographical location of Turkey is expected to become an ideal aviation center. It will be the world's largest airport, leaving Atlanta International Airport behind 90 million passengers a year.
2. CANAKKALE BRIDGE
The 1915 Canakkale Bridge, which is among the great projects of our country, will be the longest suspension bridge in the world. The bridge will be an important transit route not only for the Marmara region but also for the Caucasia, the Middle East and the Balkans. The 1915 Canakkale Bridge is planned to enter service in 2023.
3. THREE-STOREY – THE BIG ISTANBUL TUNNEL PROJECT
The world’s first three-storey tunnel will be ensure transit between Istanbul’s European an Asian sides via single route by combining a metro tunnel, necessary for the traffic flow of the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, and a road tunnel that will help ease traffic for the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge. It will cost about 3.5 billion dollars.
4. GEBZE-IZMIR MOTORWAY PROJECT
Turkey's largest infrastructure project in the history of the Gebze-Izmir highway is under construction. The project will cost 6.5 Billion Dollars. The city of Gebze and İzmir will be combined with a 377 km six-lane highway. Approximately 90% of the Gebze-İzmir Motorway is completed.
ANADOLU NATURAL GAS PIPELINE PROJECT (TANAP)
The main objective of the project TANAP, Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz-2 gas is natural gas produced from the field is transported primarily in Turkey and also in Europe. 19 kilometer line will continue under the Marmara Sea, the main pipeline in Turkey, and will reach a total of 1850km off-take stations with aboveground facilities.
ADANA INTEGRATED HEALTH CAMPUS PROJECT
The project, in the provinces of Adana Seyhan district, is located in the south of Turkey is located in an area of 318 504 m2. The project consists of an integrated health campus with a total of 1,550 beds consisting of 3 hospitals. In addition to the hospitals, facilities such as health support facilities, commercial areas, helicopter platform and will provide services to both patients and their relatives, as well as business areas with commercial facilities. It will cost about 0.7 billion dollars.
