Bitez (pronounced “bee-tez”), has a broad shallow beach, so is popular with swimmers and windsurfers. Lazier visitors can simply sit on the beach all day as the local restaurants will happily serve your food and drinks right to your sun-lounger. You need not neglect your spiritual duties either as there is also a mosque right on the beach!
Bitez is a popular place for locals to gather on a Sunday evening to barbecue on the beach or to dine at the water’s edge. The local nickname for Bitez is Agacli (“Full of Trees”), and together with Ortakent it is the main citrus growing area on the peninsula. Bitez retains its attractive old-style village centre.
Regular dolmus minibus services run to and from Bodrum until late evening.
